West Hollywood, CA (April 14, 2026) - A man was shot in an apparently random, unprovoked attack while walking with his wife and infant child in a West Hollywood residential neighborhood on the afternoon of April 14, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the shooting was reported at approximately 12:07 p.m. in the 7900 block of Norton Avenue, near the intersection of Fairfax Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The victim, a man in his 40s, was walking with his family when a suspect approached without exchanging any words and opened fire. The suspect then fled the area in a white Nissan Altima. The direction of travel was not immediately known.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his legs and was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. No other individuals were injured. No suspects or weapons have been recovered at this time.

The LASD West Hollywood Station is leading the investigation. Detectives are also examining whether the incident may be connected to a separate shooting that occurred five days earlier, in which a woman was struck by gunfire while standing on her balcony on Vista Street, approximately half a mile away. Both cases currently appear to be random.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Hollywood Station at (310) 855-8850 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
