Two Victorville-area teenagers died in a hit-and-run crash on Ridgecrest Road in Victorville on August 14, 2026, according to CHP.

Victorville, California (August 14, 2026) - Two teenagers died and an 11-year-old was critically injured in a fiery three-vehicle crash at Ridgecrest Road and Elmwood Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday. CHP said a Chevrolet Camaro and a Dodge Charger were both traveling northbound on Ridgecrest Road at a high rate of speed when an Acura sedan pulled out from Elmwood Drive to make a left turn.
All three vehicles collided. The Acura split apart on impact, and a section of it caught fire, along with the Camaro.
The Acura's 17-year-old driver, a Victorville resident, and her 16-year-old passenger, a Hesperia resident, were pronounced dead at the scene, the San Bernardino County Coroner said. An 11-year-old riding in the Camaro suffered major injuries and was hospitalized.
CHP said the Dodge driver stayed at the scene and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter. The Camaro driver fled and has not been located. Investigators have not confirmed whether the two cars were racing.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Even with one driver already arrested, the family of a fleeing driver's target keeps a separate path open: an uninsured motorist claim under the victims' own policies if the Camaro driver is never identified or found to lack adequate coverage.
Under California law, wrongful death claims must generally be filed within two years of the date of death, or by August 14, 2028 (CCP 377.60).
Two families buried their daughters' senior year plans this week instead of watching them start school, and one of the drivers who caused it is still missing.
Our High Desert wrongful death lawyers take cases to trial and have secured a $5 million wrongful death settlement for a grieving family.
Surveillance footage near Elmwood Drive and the vehicles' event data recorders can disappear fast, and finding the driver who fled depends on preserving that evidence now.
We take these cases on contingency. Nothing is owed upfront, and nothing at all unless we recover for your family.
