A Mercedes driver who got away from LAPD officers crashed into at least six parked cars near USC on October 21, 2026. No injuries were apparent.

University Park, CA (October 21, 2026) - The Los Angeles Police Department said officers lost sight of a silver Mercedes convertible traveling at a high rate of speed during a brief chase early on the morning of October 21. Officers had been chasing a robbery suspect near Olive Street and Washington Boulevard.
About five minutes later, officers found the suspect's vehicle after it crashed into at least six parked cars on West 30th Street, a residential area near the USC campus where many students live. The driver ran from the scene before officers arrived and remains at large.
It does not appear that anyone was injured.

The California DMV lists $15,000 as the minimum property damage liability coverage a driver must carry. When one driver hits several cars, that limit can fall short.
