South Los Angeles, California (June 28, 2026) - A 2-year-old child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a T-bone crash at 103rd Street and Alameda Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. on June 28, 2026. A vehicle making a left turn onto 103rd Street from Alameda was struck by a second vehicle traveling southbound on Alameda, LAPD said. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.

LAPD's South Traffic Division confirmed the 2-year-old child was unconscious at one point and was resuscitated at the scene. The child was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Two adults sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

Speed is believed to be a factor, according to LAPD. It was not immediately clear which driver was at fault. The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A crash that sends a toddler to the hospital in critical condition leaves a family in crisis, facing medical uncertainty and a tangle of questions about what comes next.

Car Accident Injury Claims in South Los Angeles

When a T-bone collision injures a child this seriously, more than one party may bear responsibility. California law allows families to pursue a civil claim even while the investigation is still open.

  • Who may be liable: the at-fault driver and their insurer. If either vehicle was a company car or commercial vehicle, the employer may share responsibility.
  • What investigators examine: vehicle speed, traffic signal compliance, sight-line obstructions, and whether either driver's actions contributed to the crash
  • Comparative fault: California follows a pure comparative fault standard, meaning a family can still recover compensation even if one driver shares partial responsibility
  • Physical evidence disappears quickly. Surveillance footage, skid marks, and witness accounts are most useful when preserved in the days right after the crash.

This crash occurred on June 28, 2026. Under California law, personal injury claims must generally be filed within two years of the date of the crash (CCP § 335.1). That deadline is June 28, 2028.
