The minivan then struck the side of a building and went through its exterior wall.

No injuries were reported. The minivan driver was cited for driving without a license, according to authorities.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and the city's Department of Building and Safety responded to assess the damage. The building was yellow-tagged, which restricts its use.

No additional details about the crash were immediately available. This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Next Steps After a Crash With Heavy Property Damage in California

Since January 1, 2025, California's minimum auto liability limits are $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident for bodily injury and $15,000 for property damage, according to the California Department of Insurance. Those figures are a floor, and what a policy actually pays depends on each driver's coverage.

  1. Get checked within 72 hours, even without pain. Anyone involved in a crash like this can develop whiplash, a concussion, or internal injuries days later. Watch for headache, neck stiffness, numbness, or abdominal pain.
  2. Document the damage before it changes. Photograph the vehicles, the building, and the scene before anything is towed or repaired, and write down the tow yard's name.
  3. Call your own insurer promptly. Ask about rental and loss-of-use coverage, and do not give a recorded statement to another driver's insurer without advice. Who pays depends on fault: the driver found responsible, that driver's insurer, and in some cases the vehicle's owner.
  4. Know the deadlines. Injury claims must generally be filed within two years of the crash (CCP 335.1), which here is October 22, 2028. Property damage claims run on their own deadline. California's pure comparative fault rule lets someone recover even when partly to blame, reduced by their share.
