Riverside County, CA - One Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash Near March Air Reserve Base

Riverside County, CA (August 23, 2026) - One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash that shut down both directions of the 215 Freeway near March Air Reserve Base early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 3:36 a.m. on the southbound 215 at Cactus Avenue. CHP said a pickup truck towing an ATV was involved in the collision, which left a damaged SUV on the northbound side of the freeway and the ATV on its side in the center median.

A reporting party told CHP that one vehicle had overturned onto its side near the center divider, with a person left on the ground. A representative from the Riverside County coroner's office was dispatched to the scene at 4:02 a.m.

Both directions of the freeway were closed during the investigation and reopened by about 8 a.m. No identifying information on the person killed had been released, and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
