Pomona, CA (3rd June, 2026) - One person was critically injured and five others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound 10 Freeway early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, on the westbound 10 Freeway just east of the 57 Freeway in the Pomona area. The carpool lane and four main lanes were closed as CHP officers responded and Los Angeles County Fire Department crews tended to the injured. One westbound lane was reopened around 6:00 a.m., and the remaining lanes were cleared by approximately 7:00 a.m.

Six patients were transported to hospitals, including one in critical condition. Five others sustained injuries described as minor. The identities of those injured and the cause of the crash had not been publicly released as of Wednesday morning.

The crash remains under active investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

This is a developing story - additional details may be released as the CHP investigation progresses.

What Victims of the 10 Freeway Pomona Crash Should Know

How does California law handle a crash with multiple vehicles and multiple injured victims?

California follows a pure comparative fault standard, which means that any person injured in a multi-vehicle crash can pursue compensation regardless of whether they share some degree of responsibility for the collision. Liability is assigned across parties based on each one's percentage of fault, and each injured person's recovery is reduced only by their own share. In a crash involving multiple vehicles, multiple drivers may each bear some portion of responsibility - and each of the six injured people may have claims against one or more of those drivers simultaneously.

What about the five victims with minor injuries?

"Minor" is a medical classification at the scene, not a legal one. Soft-tissue injuries, concussions, and whiplash sustained in high-speed freeway collisions frequently produce symptoms that worsen over days or weeks and require extended treatment.

What evidence exists, and how fast does it disappear?

The westbound 10 Freeway east of the 57 Freeway is covered by Caltrans traffic monitoring cameras, CHP enforcement cameras, and likely dashcam footage from dozens of vehicles that traveled the corridor between 4:55 and 7:00 a.m. CHP officers responding to a crash of this scale will have body-worn cameras. Black box event data recorders in the involved vehicles capture pre-crash speed, braking, and steering inputs - but this data can be overwritten if a vehicle is repaired or returned to service without preservation.

What is the filing deadline?

California law provides a two-year window from the date of the collision to file a personal injury claim - placing the outside deadline for this crash at June 3, 2028 under CCP § 335.1.
