Two-Vehicle Collisions Near Lancaster, California

CHP has not said what caused this crash, so fault is not yet known. Here is what matters in the days after a serious collision.

  • See a doctor and follow treatment: Major injuries can change over time. Keep every medical record and bill.
  • Do not give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurance company: Speak with an attorney first.
  • Preserve evidence: Photograph both vehicles, the intersection, skid marks, and any signals or signs. Save witness names and dash camera video.
  • Do not accept a settlement before consulting an attorney: Early offers rarely account for future treatment or lost income.
  • Fault: California follows pure comparative fault. A person can still recover if found partly responsible, though the award is reduced by that share.

The crash happened on October 1, 2026. Personal injury claims in California must generally be filed within two years (CCP § 335.1), which puts the deadline at October 1, 2028. If a road, sign, or signal problem contributed, a claim against a public agency can be required within six months, which would be April 1, 2027.
