A 49-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash near Broadway and 91st Street in South Los Angeles on August 16, 2026, LAPD said. The driver fled the scene.

Los Angeles, California (August 16, 2026) - A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD said the crash happened around 3:35 a.m., when a 49-year-old man riding his motorcycle south on Broadway, just south of 91st Street, was making a U-turn when he was struck by a white sedan.
The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the white sedan fled the area in an unknown direction and has not been located, police said.
LAPD is reminding motorists that anyone involved in a collision is required to stop, remain at the scene, and notify emergency services. A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver responsible.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Even when the driver who caused a fatal crash has not been found, California law gives victims and their families options.
Under California law, personal injury and wrongful death claims generally must be filed within two years of the date of the crash (CCP 335.1; CCP 377.60). For this case, that deadline falls on August 16, 2028.
Learning that the driver who killed your family member simply drove away, and still has not been found, adds a particular kind of frustration to an already devastating loss.
