The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
Fatal pedestrian accidents on major Long Beach roadways, including Pacific Coast Highway, often occur during early morning hours when traffic speeds are higher and visibility is reduced. Collisions in these conditions frequently result in severe or fatal injuries.
After a fatal accident, surviving family members are often faced with immediate practical concerns, including funeral expenses, medical bills, lost income, and uncertainty regarding how the collision occurred and whether legal options may be available.
Under California law, certain surviving family members may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim when a pedestrian dies in a traffic collision. Depending on the circumstances, these claims may seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and loss of companionship, as permitted by law.
California imposes strict statutes of limitations on wrongful death claims. In most cases, you must initiate legal action within two years from the date of death. Failure to act within this period may result in the loss of the right to pursue a claim.
