Lancaster, CA - Two Hospitalized, One Arrested After Big Rig Slams Into Disabled Cars on SR-14

Lancaster, CA (August 22, 2026) - Two people were hospitalized and one person was arrested after a chain-reaction crash on southbound State Route 14 near Avenue H late Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said the crash began as a two-vehicle collision that left vehicles disabled in the freeway's travel lanes. A big rig then struck one of the disabled cars, launching it roughly 50 feet down an embankment. The crash happened just before 11 p.m. on August 22.

Three vehicles were involved in total: the big rig and two passenger cars. One person was arrested at the scene, but CHP has not said what led to the crash, which vehicle the person was in, or what charges, if any, they face.

The conditions of the two people hospitalized were not immediately known as of Sunday morning.
