A 16-year-old boy was killed and his sister injured in a hit-and-run crash in Hyde Park, Los Angeles, on September 22, 2026, according to police.

Hyde Park, CA (September 22, 2026) - A 16-year-old boy was killed and his 14-year-old sister was seriously injured when a hit-and-run driver struck them as they crossed the street with their mother in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on the night of September 22, 2026, near West 60th Street and South 10th Avenue, LAPD said.
Police said a blue sedan struck the boy and his sister before crashing into a parked car. The driver, a woman, and a male passenger then got out and ran from the scene on foot.
The boy died at the scene. His sister was taken to the hospital. Her family says she suffered a fractured pelvis and is scheduled for surgery.
Video from the scene shows the sedan speeding down the street and appearing to run a stop sign moments before the crash.
No arrests have been made. LAPD is asking anyone with information to come forward.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
When a driver flees after hitting a pedestrian, the family is left to fight for answers and compensation without the person responsible even identified.
Under California law, a wrongful death claim generally must be filed within two years of the date of the crash (CCP § 377.60), which would be September 22, 2028 here. A claim for the surviving sister's injuries carries the same two-year deadline under CCP § 335.1.
Losing a child in an instant, on a street he was simply crossing with his family, is a loss no parent should have to carry, and now that same family is also watching a 14-year-old fight through surgery and recovery.
The Los Angeles personal injury attorneys have recovered more than $200 million for injured clients and take cases to trial with more than seven jury trials a year, including cases where the driver responsible fled the scene and had to be tracked down through evidence, not a confession.
Surveillance footage, traffic camera data, and 911 recordings are only kept for a limited time, so the sooner that evidence is secured, the better the chance of identifying the driver who ran.
There are no upfront costs to talk with our office, and no fee unless we recover for your family.
