Glendale, CA - Eight Children Hurt When Car Crashes Into Preschool Classroom

Glendale, California (August 7, 2026) - A car crashed through a gate and into a classroom wall at Grandview House Preschool on North Pacific Avenue, injuring eight children between the ages of 4 and 5, Glendale police said.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. on August 7, while the classroom was in use for a summer camp session. A preliminary investigation found that a 79-year-old woman was attempting a U-turn in the preschool's parking lot when she confused the gas pedal for the brake, according to Glendale police Sgt. Gaik Pobokhian. Her vehicle struck a parked car, then went through the gate and into the classroom.

The eight injured children were treated at a local hospital for minor, non-life-threatening injuries and released to their parents. The driver was briefly detained and evaluated for impairment. Police said there were no signs she had been driving under the influence.
