What to Do After a Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Los Angeles, CA

  1. Do not speak to any insurance company before consulting an attorney. Adjusters move fast after fatal crashes. You are not required to give a statement or accept anything before you have legal representation.
  2. Do not sign anything. No release, no settlement offer, no authorization of any kind. Once signed, those rights are gone permanently.
  3. Preserve all evidence you can access. Request the official LAPD crash report once released. Do not allow the motorcycle to be repaired, scrapped, or released without legal guidance - it is physical evidence.
  4. Contact an attorney now. The investigation is ongoing. An attorney can independently preserve evidence and identify every liable party before that window closes.

California's deadline: Wrongful death claims must generally be filed within two years of the date of death (CCP 335.1). This crash occurred on March 25, 2026 - that deadline is March 25, 2028. Evidence disappears long before that date.
