Chino, CA - Two Killed in Separate Crashes on Same Stretch of 60 Freeway

Chino, CA (September 21, 2026) - Two people died in separate crashes less than a mile apart on the westbound 60 Freeway in Chino Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The first crash was reported around 5:55 a.m. near the Mountain Avenue exit and involved a motorcyclist, CHP's incident log indicated. The motorcyclist ended up in the freeway's travel lanes, and a SigAlert was issued after the crash was reported as a fatality. The coroner's office was requested to the scene.

A second crash was reported about 6:36 a.m. near the Central Avenue exit, roughly a mile from the first. CHP's incident log indicated the crash involved a semi-truck that drove up an embankment and collided with a Lexus. One of the drivers was taken to a hospital, where they later died. It was not immediately clear which vehicle that person had been driving.

Three lanes were closed near Mountain Avenue while investigators worked the motorcycle crash, and both lanes of the westbound 60 Freeway on-ramp from Central Avenue were closed because of the second collision. Traffic backed up for miles toward the 15 Freeway through the morning of September 21, 2026. The cause of each crash had not been publicly established.
