Boyle Heights, California (July 7, 2026) - A car jumped the curb at Cesar Chavez Avenue and Lorena Street and struck a table outside a grocery store, injuring three people, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed.

The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. on July 7, 2026, according to police. Officers arrived to find a woman believed to be about 50 years old with a broken leg. She was conscious and breathing.

A man also believed to be about 50 was conscious and breathing as well, complaining of head pain. A third victim suffered more serious injuries. All three were taken to a hospital.

Police have not said how many vehicles were involved in the collision or what caused the car to leave the roadway. LAPD requested officers respond to the hospital as part of the ongoing investigation.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A trip to a neighborhood grocery store turned into an emergency in seconds, and for the three people hurt, the road to recovery is only starting.

Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Los Angeles, California

When a car leaves the roadway and injures people who did nothing but sit down for a meal, more than one party can end up sharing the blame.

  • The driver who lost control of the vehicle
  • A second driver, if another car contributed to the initial collision
  • A property owner, if a known hazard like a missing bollard made the sidewalk unsafe

Anyone hurt in a crash like this should see a doctor the same day, even for pain that seems minor at first. Insurance adjusters move fast, and a recorded statement to the other driver's carrier can be used against a claim later.

Evidence disappears quickly too. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses, cellphone video from witnesses, and the vehicles' data recorders should all be preserved before they're gone.

If the investigation finds any of the injured parties share partial fault, California's pure comparative negligence rule still allows recovery, reduced by that percentage. Personal injury claims in California must generally be filed within two years of the crash (CCP § 335.1). For this incident, that deadline falls on July 7, 2028.
