Three people died after a CHP pursuit ended in a crash at the Francisquito Avenue exit of the 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park on November 7, CHP said.

Baldwin Park, CA (November 7, 2026) - At about 4:10 a.m. on November 7, a crash on the 10 Freeway near Francisquito Avenue killed three people, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said. The crash came at the end of a pursuit.
CHP said officers were pursuing a red vehicle shortly after 4 a.m. The pursuit began on the westbound 10 Freeway near Azusa Avenue and ended at the freeway exit at Francisquito Avenue, according to a CHP spokesperson. Details on what started the pursuit were not immediately disclosed.
The driver tried to exit at Francisquito Avenue but, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crashed, CHP said. No other vehicles were involved.
Four people were in the vehicle. One person died at the scene, and three others were taken to a hospital, where two of them died of their injuries. CHP has not disclosed the condition of the surviving occupant.
The names of those involved have not been released.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
CHP's report to the Legislature counted 13,627 police pursuits in California in 2023, and 2,593 of them (19.0 percent) ended in a crash. The 32 fatal pursuit crashes killed 43 people, including 10 passengers in the pursued vehicle.
CHP has not said what started the pursuit. Pursuit claims depend on records most families never see, including the agency's pursuit policy, radio logs, and video. California law can shield a public agency from civil damages after a pursuit crash. The shield applies only if the agency adopted a written pursuit policy that meets state standards (Veh. Code § 17004.7). The agency must also train its officers on that policy every year. Whether it applies here is a question for a lawyer.
Taking on a government agency can feel one-sided, especially when the agency holds the pursuit records and video. The Law Offices of Christian Contreras has secured multiple seven-figure civil rights recoveries against government agencies. Our Southern California personal injury lawyers apply that experience to serious crash claims.
We secure the records, investigate how the pursuit unfolded, and handle every call from insurers and agencies. We send preservation requests early, since agencies may not keep pursuit video and radio logs for long.
