Azusa, CA - Fatal Crash Shuts Down Westbound 210 Freeway for Hours

Azusa, California (August 12, 2026) - A fatal crash shut down westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway near Citrus Avenue early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported around 3:30 a.m. Los Angeles County Fire Department crews and CHP officers responded to the scene, where all westbound lanes were closed and a SigAlert was issued.

The HOV lane reopened first, letting drivers crawl past in a single line while the backup grew for miles. All westbound lanes reopened just before 6:30 a.m.

CHP has not released the cause of the crash, how many vehicles were involved, or how many people were hurt or killed.
